Forensic Science Academy
OVERVIEW:

Offered only twice a year, the Forensic Science Academy is over 300 hours of hands-on courses designed to equip students for work in the field of Forensic Sciences.  Many of our graduates are involved with local police agency, the coroner's office, and other active investigation units.


COURSES INCLUDE:

Basic Crime Scene Investigation (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as a crime scene investigator. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Advanced Technology in CSI (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for the entry-level positions as Laboratory Assistant Technician.  The student will understand the procedure and protocol for entering a crime and the collecting of biological evidence.

Fingerprint Comparison and Ridgeology (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for the entry-level positions as a fingerprint examiner. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Advanced Crime Scene Investigation (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as a crime scene investigator. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Death Investigation & the Coroner's Office (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as a coroner investigator trainee, transport officer, and autopsy technician. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Forensic Photography (40 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as a forensic photographer. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Gangs and Narcotics (16 hours):

This course will focus on understanding the behavior and life-style of gang members, including the understanding of the history of gangs in America and the identification and reading of graffiti.

Report and Resume Writing (16 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as an Evidence/Property Technician, Community Service Officer and Police Officer. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.

Courtroom Testimony (44 hours):

This competency-based course prepares students for entry-level positions as a Community Service Officer, Police Officer, Evidence/Property Technician, Identification Technician. The student will be able to complete all skills that are required to test for this job.
